Meet the Gala Chair
The Guiding Lights Gala is honoured to be guided by Marija Pavkovic-Tovissi, whose passion for education and community impact has transformed countless lives.
Marija's journey began as the child of newcomers to Canada, where she saw the sacrifices her family made to build a better future. Her experiences shaped a belief that education should never be limited by financial, language or personal barriers, a belief that became the cornerstone of MaKami College.
Since founding the College in 2001, Marija has helped create a place where students are supported not only in achieving their education, but in building confidence, careers and new opportunities for their families. Her commitment to empowering others has grown into a lasting legacy of accessibility, innovation and hope.
We are proud to have Marija's vision and heart leading this Gala, as she continues to inspire others to invest in education and shape brighter futures across Alberta.
